"We’ve become collectors of people; we’re all locaphiles now."

What is a localphile? Good question. A localphile is obsessed with the local. People, food, culture, and the occasional, off-the-beaten-track monument. We are travelers in search of authenticity. We shun the "typical" experience, and instead, embrace the unexpected. If you are the type of person who takes a photo "pushing" the leaning tower of Pisa, then yes, we judge you. If you travel all the way to Paris and can't be bothered to order coffee in French, then yes, we admonish you. If you take a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway, and don't have time to pull the car over and explore a bit, then yes, we absolutely look down upon you and your way of life. But please, keep reading, because this blog will reform you.

Local travel is the future. And we are here to guide you and share our personal experiences from around the world. Local travel is often less expensive, and always more rewarding. And whether you're off to the eastern most island of Indonesia, or twenty minutes down the 210 freeway, we'll show you how to find the experiences that matter.

Lastly, please take a look at this brilliant article by Adam Sachs. He is our inspiration, and the author of the lovely quote above.
